Call Before You Dig

Warmer weather means more digging, planting, and outdoor projects... and unfortunately, more emergency calls from customers who've accidentally cut their own fiber line.

Here's how to avoid it: In Colorado, any ground-disturbing activity — even on your own private property — requires a locate ticket through the state's 811 system. It's free, and it's the only official way to have Maverix and other utilities mark where their lines run so you know where it's safe to dig.

The fastest way to do it is online at exactix.colorado811.org, which accepts tickets 24 hours a day. We'd recommend it over calling because the phone line can leave you on hold for 45 minutes or more, while an online ticket usually takes just a couple of minutes.

Two important things to keep in mind:

Plan Ahead
Locates typically require 3 business days' notice, so plan ahead before you start your project.
Tickets Expire After 30 Days
A ticket is only good for 30 days from the time it's submitted, even if the marks are still clearly visible on the ground. After that, you'll need to submit a new one.

A few minutes up front can save you from losing service and facing an expensive repair bill. Help us help protect your fiber line!
